Live at Claddagh Thursday, May 4th at 5pm

Kerri Joy and Dee Brust met in 2013 as part of a MN Arts Board grant project, instantly recognized the alchemy of possibility in spontaneous harmony lines, and have performed together in a wellspring of creative energy ever since.  Kerri is from NW Montana, and brought her Old Time and bluegrass ornamentation to the Celtic session music of New York, Texas, and Minnesota.  She has fiddled and sung with Celtic, Funk, Jazz, Country and Classical ensembles and performed leading roles in stage productions of Evita, Othello, as well as appearing with Wookiefoot and most recently, the Wild Colonial Bhoys. Soaring leads and ethereal melodies and harmonies are her trademark.  Dee is a teacher and mother of five, and lives with her family in NE Minneapolis.  Dabbling with music and performance since she was a tot, Dee has reveled in opportunities to share her work with children’s choirs and ensembles, at Celtic and International Festivals, the MN Renaissance Festival, environmental and educational events, parks and nature centers, churches, Irish pubs, classrooms, and best of all, Bedtime.  Dee’s percussive guitar, meandering mandolin, and sparkling vocal lines weave her unique expression into the grand tapestry of music that is at the heart of every moment.  SisterTree has performed for Honor the Earth, the Irish Music and Dance Association, Heart of the Beast’s May Day Festival, at the Cedar Cultural Center to open for folk icons The High Kings and Boiled in Lead.  They released their debut album in 2015. With every performance, SisterTree seeks to transport listeners to timeless spaces evoked by their passionate and distinctive delivery of folk music. From lilting lullabies to rollicking tune sets, they explore with an independent spirit, roving over the wild and storied landscapes of the adventurous heart.

Angie is a well-respected fiddle player having participated in countless contests over the years.  She brings an edge to the group that fascinates crowds every time Broken Fiddle takes the stage.  In addition to playing fiddle, Angie also contributes to the band with lead and background vocals, guitar, and bass.

Angie, along with Kris, also makes up the duo known as Second Fiddle. They have played in many other bands with area musicians, and a new project soon to hit the stage will be known as Stone Road.

Angie is an accomplished gardener, loves photography, and passionately despises winter.  Smart girl!

Kris has a great style to accomapny Angie’s fiddle playing.  But that’s not all he does.  When Kris is on stage you’ll catch him playing rocking rhythms, slick leads, and walking bass.  In this group, Kris contributes with lead and rhythm guitar, lead and background vocals, baritone guitar, and bass.

Live Music
Live at Claddagh Waylen Blue & The Sub Fives
Friday, May 26, 2017 - Saturday, May 27, 2017

8:00 pm - 12:00 am

Live at Claddagh Waylen Blue & The Sub Fives

Live at Claddagh May 26th at 8pm

The majority of the musicians that make up Waylen Blue and the Sub Fives, played together informally for several years, before deciding to buckle down and make something of it. Their passion and skills produce soul-filled, roots-diggin’, guitar-driven Rock, Blues and Funk music with some lively harmonica.

Hailing from many different bands, the members of Waylen Blue and the Sub Fives have the experience and chops fans crave. Plus, with having two very adept guitarists, a blues harp player, a talented drummer and even a hall of fame bassist, Waylen Blue and the Sub Fives brings a distinctly tight sound to the stage. Lay on that some soulful vocals and you get a sound with widespread appeal.

Crafting a mix of originals and covers, they pick through the old and the new in search for deep-soul-reachin’ sounds. While you will certainly hear a few hits by artists like Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughn & John Mayer, Waylen Blue and the Sub Fives has added, to these tunes, some of their own flavor. However, their passion lies in introducing audiences to many of the excellent songs that will not be heard on the typical top ten radio stations by artists like Vintage Trouble, Anthony Gomes, The Derek Trucks Band, Tab Benoit and Jesse Roper, This band’s obsession with quality music is addictive. The audience consistently asks,“Where are you playin’ next?”
